Grown in Mexico & Peru, Anchos are common to Mexican & Southwestern cooking. Our Ancho Chilli Powder is made from ground whole ancho chillies & are the most commonly used dried chilli in Mexico with a fruity, earthy flavour that’s indispensable whether you’re making salsas, sauces or stews. With a heat range between 3-5 on a heat scale of 1 to 10, they have comparablly low heat & a good sweetness. Anchos can be used as a substitute for Guajillo or Pasilla Negro. Great in sauces, salsa & soups & bean dishes. Use in stir fries, or rub on chicken or fish before baking or grilling. Stir a good pinch into soft cream cheese or soured cream for a cooling/warming dip or use to lightly dust popcorn. It’s also ‘free’ on all the slimming plans we know of!
