Description Rounded, fruity, popular sparkling from South Africa, made in the traditional or ‘Classique’ method. It has plenty of the biscuity/bready characters of fine sparkling, and is well-priced, so a good buy from The Little Fine Wine Company or your favourite restaurant list! TASTING NOTE: This classic-method Sparkling has a yellow colour and a fine mousse, with lots of gentle bubbles in the glass. On the nose: It is light, with yeasty/biscuity aromas eg shortbread and pastry dough, plus citrus fruit such as lime and tropical fruit such as passionfruit. On the palate: it has crisp acidity, plenty of ripe apple and citrus fruit flavours and a slight creaminess from lees ageing. The elegant mousse contributes to the freshness and finesse of the wine. A Brut style, ie dry but rounded, fruity, easy to drink and very versatile. FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: Graham Beck suggests enjoying this Brut on its own as a starting point to prep your palate for a great meal, or with canapes such as peach, prosciutto and mozzarella skewers. We suggest if you are to match it with some food, try it with grilled prawns coated with butter, lemon zest and fresh herbs. Or try with steamed mussels in white wine and butter. For a good vegetarian option and a slightly different match, try with pea/leek tarts or quiches, which would make a lovely fresh pairing. Drink now or by end of 2026. ABOUT: Founded in 1983 when Graham Beck purchased Madeba, a farm located just outside the Western Cape town of Robertson. His plan was to establish a world class winery in the area, which he succeeded in doing! Today the estate is led by Graham and wife Rhona’s son Antony Beck, who focusses on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes for their Méthode Cap Classique production. And renowned winemaker Peter Ferreira. They also make excellent still wines in Robertson, and have a small winery in Oregon, USA.
